Football Hamburger

Upon reviewing this photo that I took today I noticed that it looks like a football player holding a hamburger patty.  It's a world of illusions!

When You Finally Arrive

I know that I have officially arrived because I had my car's oil changed at a shop that had this in the waiting area.

The International Bowling Museum

Today during a lunch break from a meeting, I visited the International Bowling Museum.  I learned that it costs $9.50 and is open Tuesday - Saturday.  Interestingly enough, there is also a training and research center next door.  There are 14 training lanes and a few for R&D.  Below are pictures of the outside since I was short on time and $9.50.

She's Three

Tenley turned 3 last week and the theme was Minnie Mouse.  Isn't her Daddy impressive?!

Jeremy and His Guitar

Jeremy has volunteered his time on several occasions and performs country songs.  He has performed Saginaw Michigan, Kiss an Angel Good Morning, Dukes of Hazard(Theme Song), and many more country classics.  Please enjoy this series of photos below.  Jeremy's performance can also be seen on YouTube under "Jeremy and his guitar".

String Beans

Pictured below is the food (255lbs) we collected from the cookout referenced in the post below entitled "Hotdogs and Poddogs".  On Thurday September 16th, we delivered that food to the local food mission.  Before we left the mission, we were treated to "You Are My Sunshine" played by this talented woman using an autoharp.

Hotdogs and Poddogs

We recently had a cookout at work to raise donations for a local charity.  After you've cooked about 40-50 hotdogs, you start looking for other things to do.  This vine caught my attention and therefore I created and served the first "poddog".  No one was willing to try it.

Season Opener 2010

On Sunday, September 12th we went to the Texans vs. Colts football game.  We had the pleasure  of watching the Houston Texans defeat the Colts 34-24 in their first regular season game of 2010.  I also had the pleasure of having my photo taken by a concession worker.  Apparently I made the first purchase of the season from that particular concession stand, so in response I took one of her too.

Botanical Beauty or Not?

I can't decide if this is appealing or just interesting.  What do you think and/or what is it?

Wichita Falls Equine(s)

During a recent visit to Wichita Falls I noticed these horses around town painted with different themes.  I took this picture and then did some research to find out what these represented.  A local non-profit organization auctions them off to raise money and local businesses/organiztions purchase them and place them in front of their establishments.  The one pictured was painted by Kim Ward and was purchased/sponsored by United Regional.  http://www.themaneevent.org/

Rail Car Stop

I spotted this pair of rail car stops in Bowie, TX.  A friend of mine found one of these on the side of the highway a year or so ago and brought it home.  We had to do some research to figure it out what it was as we had never seen one before.  According to a website that sells this type of equipment, they weigh 173lbs. and cost approximately $750.  Its probably for sale at a discount if anyone wants it.  It's red in color, not orange as seen below.

Tick Tock

A fellow employee and I had differing opinions on which clock was more attractive.  The black and white clock was originally on the wall, but I replaced it with the "Footprints" clock.  The latter was described as being unattractive and the colors were boring, as opposed to the black and white color scheme on the original.  The picture below is my solution to the issue.

I-45

On Friday, August 20th while traveling southbound on Interstate 45 just north of Corsicana, TX, traffic was detoured as a result of this accident.  I don't know exactly what happened, but I did see a life-flight helicopter in the area.

Double Red

Donated my red blood cells today.  I have donated whole blood numerous times, but I decided today that I wanted my platelets and plasma back.  All my vitals were normal and hopefully helped save a life!

Tour 18

Today Grant and I played the Tour 18 in Humble, TX.  The course is comprised of replicas of famous golf holes throughout the U.S.  The picture of Grant on the tee-box with the bulkhead in the background is the hole replicating TPC Sawgrass #17.  This was my first time to play in several years and Grant defeated me with ease.

The Old Jail

On Friday August 6, 2010 I introduced a fellow employee to Coldspring, TX.  Below are pictures of the front and rear of the jail,  we didn't spend much time there as it was extremely hot.  In fact, the museum was closed because the A/C was not working.

Battleship Texas

Late yesterday afternoon we (Tim, Lisa, Trenton, Tenley, Trace, Casey and Misty) made a quick trip down to La Porte, TX to see the Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto Monument.   Afterwards, we had supper at the Monument Inn and enjoyed watching the ships pass by on the channel.

Madam Monument

This is the lady that operates the elevator that takes visitors to the observation floor of the San Jacinto Monument.  It costs $4 to go up there, but she found something for free!

Fowl Farewell

The chickens have moved to another home.  They didn't tell me where they were going, but they claimed they will write soon.  Even the driver of the shuttle service they hired wouldn't make a peep. We shall see...

Uneasy Fruit

Myself and some co-workers had lunch at this restaurant in Livingston, TX.  Had a great meal and enjoyed trying to repeat the Chinese words I learned from my fortune cookies to the cashier.  She was not interested in hearing "pear" or "anxious" mispronounced in her native tongue.

Flying Monkey Experiment #2

On Friday July 30th, we completed the second launch of toy monkeys into the skies over San Jacinto county.  We actually sent two separate monkeys up today, but their direction of travel was east as the initial launch the previous Friday was in a northerly direction.  Still waiting for responses.
